Faulty Molds Extractor of the Automatic Molding Line

The mold extraction process right after the cooling line AMC and SBC is an essential process to separate properly defective pieces from the line before to the next processes in order not to mix defective parts with good parts in the later demolding processes (cooling drum or continuous shake out conveyors )  following degating line and charge the pieces to the  shot blasting machine in a vertical molding line.

The reasons  to separate  the molds  can be for  different reasons:

  • A failed composition of the metal in the molding machine.
  • Tests that the customer wants to perform with different prototypes.
  • Molds without metal

These are some  reasons why the system for extracting molds from the SBC is an optimal and clean system.

This system  allows not to mix defective pieces with good ones in the cooling  drum. This way we avoid the work to separate them  manually  by human means which are generally unhealthy works due to the temperature of the metal and the sand.

The system consists of a vibrating conveyor installed in a frame on which it moves by wheels on rails. Normally a pneumatic cylinder is used as an actuator for the displacement. The mold extractor is installed in line or at 90º of the reception of molds from the SBC, according to the lay out of the line, depending on the position of the vibrating machine that receives the molds in the normal working process.

Once the extractor receives the order through generally a PLC to extract some  number of molds for the reasons mentioned above the extractor moves forward to the lower position between the SBC and the feeder which receive the molds in the normal process.. This way it extracts the defective molds from the line. Once these parts are removed the order is received again from the PLC to move forward to its original position and continue with the normal working process of the line.

Also we can complete the installation with a  shake-out to receive the defective molds installed  in line or in  perpendicular position ( depending on the layout of the installation ) in order to remove the sand from these parts and be driven to the next  sand reclamation process.

It is a clean system which replaces the traditional hydraulic push-out systems which produce   large clumps of sand when the sand and metal fall down to the floor. This means that it takes unhealthy human resources to collect the sand and metal to the floor.
